Is it Too Late to Migrate to GA4?

No.  It’s not too late to migrate.  On July 1st, 2023, Google will stop all tracking on the Universal Analytics platform and it will then be too late.

What Happens if I Wait to Migrate to GA4 Until After June 30th?

If you wait and allow Google to create a GA4 property for you, you’ll no longer be tracking goal completions (now called Conversions in GA4).  You’ll instantly begin having messy data and you’ll need to set up Conversions using Google Tag Manager.

How Long Will it Take to Migrate to GA4?

It takes 10-20 hours to migrate to GA4 successfully.  If you want to look at historical data dating back to before you migrated to Google Analytics 4, you’ll need to reference your old Universal Analytics property or access your data through something like Google Sheets or BigQuery.

The average GA4 migration costs about $1500.  Some are as low as $750, and others can be as much as $3,000.  It all depends on the number of complexities and customizations your organization requires.  We also offer GA4 consultations to help guide you, starting at $150/hour.  And if you want us to do a team training, we can set that up for you as well (pricing for this will be determined by the level of depth you wish to go with).

Why is Migrating to Google Analytics 4 So Difficult?

It turns out, Google Analytics 4 is something that requires a lot of customization and developer knowledge to implement properly.   It’s not as simple as Universal Analytics was.  You need to rely on Google Tag Manager to properly track events and conversions (formerly known as Goals) now.  If you don’t have much experience with Google Tag Manager, the learning curve is much steeper and you’ll probably need help.
